Gifts from friends and supporters of the UBC Farm make a lasting impact. Online donations made through UBC’s site go 100% towards supporting the farm’s innovative learning, research, and community programs.
Much of the work in the farm’s diverse program areas is made possible by the thousands of hours contributed by volunteers and interns.
The UBC Farm recruits volunteers on an ongoing basis. New volunteers are required to attend an orientation session, which are scheduled throughout the year. The UBC Farm offers a full-season, hands-on Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture that is available to members of the broader community as well as UBC students. In addition, the farm frequently hosts workshops and short courses to connect the local community with sustainability and life-skill experts through accessible and affordable workshops.
Unique among on-campus facilities, the UBC Farm and its surrounding areas allow for field-scale production of food, fibre, and fuel, and provide a range of ecosystem services to the campus. The interface with the city enhances research and teaching opportunities that also address community, ecosystem, and global health.

The farm welcomes project proposals from the community that are consistent with the farm vision, as well as the mission and goals stated in Cultivating Place. Providing clear links to academic initiatives or units at UBC will strengthen likelihood of approval for project proposals from community, industry, and third parties.
