Acadia Park Pop-Up Market

New Pop Up Farm Markets at Acadia Park

In collaboration with the UBC Farm for UBC Families Project, we will bring a pop-up market to Acadia Park during September, every Thursday from 4-6pm. The markets will offer local and organic food from the UBC Farm, as well as information about the importance of building a sustainable food system on campus.

Join us for a family friendly kick off party during the first market on September 7! There will be outdoor activities, snacks, and free ice cream for children.

When: Thursdays September 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 4:00 to 6:00pm

Where: Outside of the Commonsblock

UBC Farm for UBC Families collaborates with several units at UBC to leverage existing resources available on campus and increase awareness about food security at UBC. The pilot pop-up markets will allow us to assess the feasibility of having a regular UBC Farm market in Acadia Park.

This is a direct response to the surveys done by the UBC Farm for UBC Families project (volunteers amongst graduate student families on campus) that found many barriers to accessing healthy, fresh produce for on campus student families. We hope that this set of 4 farm markets will prove to be successful. If you live on campus or in student and staff housing, please support these trials and help us expand our offerings for on campus residents.
