Many cultures around the world have their own special tastes, ingredients and methods of food preparation. Integral to this are the herbs they use that are specific to their region. These plants were added to meals not just for flavour but for their actions on human health. “Let food be thy medicine,” said Hippocrates long ago, and this is how it has been for hundreds of years. During this workshop we will look at, taste and discuss various herbs and flavourings from different regions of the world and learn how cultures maintained their health or treated illness through a diet that included many plants with specific actions. Herbal snacks will be provided and participants will take home hand outs with recipes. This workshop belongs to a two-part Herbalism series we are offering with instructor Sarah Orlowski on July 21. Sign up for both workshops at checkout and receive 15% off!
