Have you found yourself secretly admiring knitters and wishing you knew how to knit too? Want to be able to knit cozy socks, hats, blankets, or scarves for yourself and others? Come learn how to knit with us! This workshop will cover the basics of knitting including: materials, casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, casting off, how to read a pattern, and creating a gauge swatch. Basic stitches, patterns, and terminology will be outlined. We will begin a small and easy knitting project, such as a mason jar cozy, which participants will get to take home, including the yarn and needles. A page with online resources will also be provided. This workshop will provide you with everything you need to become a proficient knitter!
If time permits, this workshop will also cover more advanced topics, such as:
– Other methods of casting on
– Knitting in the round
– Decreasing and increasing stitches
– Recycling yarn
– Dying yarn with kool-aid
– Special stitch patterns (cables, lace, intarsia, etc.)
