Spend a day at the farm and celebrate native bees and pollinators with us!Bring a picnic blanket, your friends, your children and we will provide the rest of the tea party ingredients! Midway through our tea party we will enjoy a performance and talk by bee educator Lori Weidenhammer and go on a native pollinator walk and observe the busy activity around the UBC Farm’s flowers and fields. This tea party is entry by donation with all proceeds going towards the UBC Farm’s mason bee housing expansion and new signage. There are only 30 spots. Registration is required.
About Lori:Lori Weidenhammer is a performance-based artist/educator and author of Victory Gardens for Bees: A DIY Guide to Saving the Bees and the popular Victory Gardens for Bees Blog: An bee-centric artist tracks seasonal events in Vancouver–sometimes natural, sometimes cultural– it’s all connected. General questions:What will the tea party include? We will have simple tea party snacks to go with lots of honey. They will be served on a fun assortment of china and teaware. All you need to bring is your picnic blanket! What is the dress code? Farm-formal: Which means as fun and formal as you can manage while wearing a good pair of boots. If you have pollinator-related accessories please wear them (fairy costumes, butterfly pins, bumblebee earrings, all manner of flowers, hummingbird patterned ties are all good examples). Will there be seating? There will be a few picnic tables for those that would prefer to not be seated on the grass. What will the funds go towards? We are attempting to fix up and expand the mason bee housing and habitats in our farm’s hedgerows. This fundraiser will contribute towards purchasing more materials to build that! What is the suggested donation? $5-20 in cash on arrival!
