Throughout the growing season, the UBC Farm hosts several community events on site, including Harvest Festivals, FarmAde, and Joy of Feeding.
These festivals often coincide with Saturday Farm Markets, and they typically involve live music, fun for kids and families, and a variety of special activities that allow the community to interact with the farm in a more meaningful way. The farm has also been a regular host for the Feast of Fields event, an annual fundraiser organized by FarmFolk/CityFolk, as well as the Outstanding in the Field dinner series.
The Growing Season Workshop Series is open to members of the general public who are interested in learning a wide range of sustainability, traditional, and life skills from experts from the local community. Some of the most popular workshops include cheese making, natural building, food preservation, and children’s cooking classes.
Every year, the UBC Farm offers a hands-on, season-long Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture. Please see the Practicum page for more information.
Opportunities for young people to engage in land-based, experiential learning at the UBC Farm include FarmDiscovery Tours, SpringFarmers after-school program, FarmWonders summer camps, seasonal Market Festival events, and Growing Season workshops that are oriented toward children.
