FarmAde: Square dancing into the sunset, the sizzle from the grills, laughter from the beer gardens, hazy picnics and lawn games. Started in 2001 as a (successful) AMS-led effort to help save the UBC farm from residential development. FarmAde has grown over the years into one of the largest annual events at UBC. It marks the beginning of UBC’s school year and the end of the growing season and reliably occurs on one of the first Fridays of September during AMS FirstWeek.
FarmAde brings together UBC community members of all ages to celebrate community, local food and local Vancouver talent. The event also brings together organizations and movements that support sustainability, local food, and raise awareness about food security issues.
FarmAde continues to this day and is hosted by AMS Events and the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at the UBC Farm. Admission is always free! See you next September!
