*Online* Vertical Gardening for Beginners

About this Workshop

In this workshop, you will review the opportunities for setting up vertical gardens in the city. You’ll learn about the benefits of vertical vegetation including growing food in small spaces and discuss the different systems and technologies available for vertical gardening, including many visual examples of vertical gardens – large and small. You will also learn about the principles of setting up a successful vertical garden on fences, walls, and balconies, and cover design considerations such as watering, weight, light and plant choice.

About the Instructor

Yael Stav (PhD Land. Arch.) is a sustainable design professional, with expertise in vertical vegetation and urban agriculture, from Israel, Australia and Canada. Her PhD work focused on designing sustainable vertical gardens. She teaches and advocates for integrating more plants into urban environments, and enjoys gardening in her domestic micro-farm and in community gardens. Her studio, Invivo Design, located in Vancouver, is involved in educational and design projects related to urban sustainability.
