Farm Wonders (ages 6-9)
In the Farm Wonders summer camp, young learners dig into the rhythms of farm life in our beautiful Children’s Learning Garden and across the working farm. Campers plant seeds, meet pollinators at our beehives, harvest seasonal crops, and explore where food comes from – all while building friendships, confidence, and care for the living world around them. Days are filled with garden games, nature crafts, storytelling, and plenty of outdoor adventure!A week at Farm Wonders typically includes:
Farm Exploration & Harvesting
Beyond the Children’s Garden, campers wander the wider working farm – getting to know crops, rhythms, and wildlife. Each week, they pick their own pint of strawberries or blueberries to take home, forage wild-growing berries like raspberries, blackberries, and huckleberries, and harvest from the crops growing in the Children’s Garden too.
Nature Learning & Play
Campers learn to identify the plants and animals around them, especially things they’re foraging, and head out on birdwatching walks through the Farm’s beautiful 10-hectare on-site forest. They also play lots of outdoor games – including ones where campers get to embody the animals and creatures they see around the Farm.
Creative Arts & Cooking
Arts and crafts focus on natural materials – watercolour painting, making paints from berries, cyanotype prints, drying plants, and more. Campers also cook and bake with fresh farm ingredients all week, making things like kale chips, focaccia, and zucchini brownies.

Forest Wonders (ages 10-12)
At the Forest Wonders summer camp, older campers venture deeper into the UBC Farm’s 24 hectares of second-growth forest and farmland. Through hands-on science investigations, ecological exploration, and creative projects, they’ll uncover the magic of forest ecosystems, seasonal cycles, and sustainable food systems. Expect fort-building, nature journaling, plant and animal identification, wilderness skills, team challenges, and lots of time to roam, wonder, and grow.
A week at Forest Wonders typically includes:
Forest Exploration & Shelter Building
Campers spend lots of time wandering the forest, getting to know its trails, hidden spots, and seasonal changes – with room for natural building, land art, and whatever discoveries the week brings. They also learn to build their own shelters using tarps, ropes, and natural materials, including how to tie essential knots and set up a sturdy camp.
Nature Learning & Play
Campers learn to identify the plants, animals, birds, and fungi living in and around the forest, and head out on birdwatching walks through the 10-hectare forest and wider Farm. They also play games rooted in the forest ecosystem – including predator and prey games that bring local food webs to life – as well as storytelling, performance, nature-based arts and crafts, and quiet journaling time.
Harvesting & Cooking
Each week, campers pick their own pint of strawberries or blueberries to take home. They also cook and bake with fresh, seasonal ingredients – a delicious way to connect the forest and farm to the table.
