Celebrate Halloween and the bounty of autumn with the Haunted Harvest Fest at the UBC Farm Farmers’ Market!

For those of you wondering, our Haunted Harvest Fest brings together our Apple Market and Pumpkin Fest into one spooky and cozy autumnal celebration!

Jack-o-lantern Carving Contest

Enter your jack-o-lantern into the contest: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Voting open to Market Shoppers: 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Winner announced: 12:30 p.m.

Bring your most creatively carved veggie (including pumpkins!) to the market on Saturday, October 26, between , and our market guests will vote for their favourite!

The winner will be announced at 1:00 p.m. – please come to claim your prize, and take home your jack-o-lantern! Any squash left after 2:00 p.m. will be fed to our compost. If the winner cannot attend the announcement, we will contact you to pick up your prize at a future market date!

Prizes:

The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the market – this can be used at any vendor, including the UBC Farm!

Beet the Scale! Guess the weight of the big beet

Submit your guesses: 10 a.m. – 12

Winner announced: 12:30 p.m.

Prizes:

Guess the weight of our big beet! The person with the closest guess will be announced at 12:30 p.m. The winner will take home the beet and a sachet of herbs!

Apple Variety & Roasted Squash Variety Tastings

Members Only Tasting: 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Public Tasting: 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This is your chance to taste up to 16 varieties of apples and an array of squash varieties too! Get a taste of what we are growing in our orchard and fields. Friends of the Farm Members get exclusive tasting time at 11 a.m. and the public tasting begins at 11:30 a.m. Tasting by donation with a $5 minimum. All proceeds go to support the UBC Farm.

Our apples and squash are available at the UBC Farm Market stand for purchase, but are subject to availability and may sell out!
