Join us for a celebration of the harvest and enjoy a fun-filled day:

  • Live music
  • Farm photo booth
  • U-pick pumpkin pile
  • Pie tasting competition with celebrity judges Dean Rickey Yada of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, Chef Rose Concepción of Doughgirls Comfort Kitchen & Bakeshop, and farmer/student Michael Annejohn (details about how to enter below)
  • Weirdest veggie contest: bring a vegetable you grew that you think looks strange and check out the wacky and wonderful world of imperfect produce
  • Info booths from Roots on the Roof, the Agronomy Garden, UBC Sprouts and more: learn how to get involved in growing, cooking and eating local food on campus
  • Hands-on activities and crafts for kids
  • More than 20 different vendors selling produce, fruit, ice cream, baked goods, hot food, beverages, and more

Pie Tasting Competition Details

  • How to enter: bring your pie to the market anytime between 9AM and 11:45AM
  • Rules: your pie must meet the following criteria:
    • it must be made entirely from scratch by you
    • it cannot be cream-filled or cream-based
    • you must bring a copy of your recipe
    • it must be submitted in a disposable plate/tin/pan
    • it must highlight local/seasonal produce such as apples, pears, plums, pumpkins
  • Judging: our judging team will announce winners at 12:30 PM, after which time the public will be welcome to taste pies by donation and pick an audience favourite
  • If you win: first and second place winners will receive gift certificates to spend at our UBC Farm markets, and the first place winner’s recipe will be shared through our newsletter
