Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm Staff Positions

Market Sales Coordinator

The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (CSFS) at UBC Farm is looking for an enthusiastic and organized Market Sales Coordinator to join its fantastic team! This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in bringing UBC Farm’s fresh, organic produce to the community through multiple weekly farmers’ markets. Works under the supervision of the Lead Sales Coordinator, who oversees the sale and distribution of farm products overall. This position collaborates regularly with other staff on the field and sales teams, and supervises the work of a small number of students, student employees, and volunteers at markets.

Field and Volunteer Coordinator

The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (CSFS) at UBC Farm is looking for an outgoing and motivated Field and Volunteer Coordinator to join its fantastic team! The Field and Volunteer Coordinator supports on-site research, teaching, and community programs in four complementary ways: coordinating opportunities to volunteer with these programs, leading day-to-day delivery of the Urban Farmers volunteer program, coordinating and performing a variety of moderately complex land stewardship and crop production activities, and providing basic agricultural services and consultation to other site participants (e.g. researchers, instructors, and community program leaders).

Field Coordinator 1

This position is an integral part of the fantastic field team at The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (CSFS) at UBC Farm. The Field Coordinator helps to manage and operate crop production at the Farm, a 24-hectare organic research, teaching, and production Farm. The Field Coordinator supports on-site research, teaching, and community programs by coordinating and performing a variety of moderately complex land stewardship and crop production activities, and providing basic agricultural services and consultation to other site participants (e.g. researchers, instructors, and community program leaders).

Field Assistant

The Field Assistant is an indispensable part of the field team at The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (CSFS) at UBC Farm. This position supports crop production and land stewardship activities at the UBC Farm, a 24-hectare organic research, teaching, and production Farm, reporting to the Lead Field Coordinator and working closely, in a collaborative environment, with other field staff.

For-Credit Career Development Placements

All UBC students may apply for positions, interview, and – once accepted – enrol in LFS 496. Gain upper-level credits while learning from experts in the food system. Students will gain invaluable, hands-on, professional and research experience with the various opportunities on offer.

Volunteer Program

Much of the great work that happens at the UBC Farm is made possible by the continued support of the farm’s dedicated volunteers. The UBC Farm volunteer program provides UBC students, staff, faculty members, and members of the wider community the chance to gain hands-on experience in many aspects of small-scale sustainable farming. Most volunteer opportunities are available during the main growing season (May-October).
