Celebrate Halloween and the bounty of autumn with the Haunted Harvest Fest at the UBC Farm Farmers’ Market!

  • UBC Farm Heritage Apple Variety Tasting 🍎

  • Children’s Fall Cooking and Baking Workshops 🥧
  • Bunny Meet n Treat (weather dependent) by donation courtesy of Rabbitats, whose rabbits are all rescued or surrendered 🐇

  • Members Deals Day (UBC Farm Members get discounts on produce)
  • Spooky Farm & Forest Tour by donation 👻 🍂
  • Kids’ Trick-or-Treat at participating vendors and our info booth!
  • Beet the Scale! (Guess the weight of the big beet for a prize)
  • Food and coffee trucks
  • More than 30 different local vendors selling produce, fruit, meat, mushrooms, eggs, baked goods, beverages, sweet treats, alcohol, artisan goods, and more!

Pumpkin Carving Contest

Enter your pumpkin into the contest: 10:00 to 11:15 a.m.

Voting open to Market Shoppers: 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Winner announced: 12:15 p.m.

Bring your most creatively carved pumpkin from 10 to 11 a.m. and our market guests will vote for their favourite!

The winner will be announced at 12:15 p.m. and will receive a $25 gift certificate to the market. Please come to claim your prize and take your pumpkin home! Any pumpkins left after 2:00 p.m. will be fed to our compost. If the winner cannot attend the announcement, we will contact you to pick up your prize at a future market date.

 

Children’s Cooking and Baking Workshops (ages 4-12)

Spooky Breads & Soup Cauldron: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Pumpkin Patch Mini-Pies & Fall Craft: 1 to 3 p.m.

Little ones learn how to cook with the flavours of the season in these two skill-building workshops! Make and enjoy spooky-shaped breads, a hearty veggie soup, and fall-flavoured mini pies all while building confidence and independence in the kitchen.

Beet the Scale! Guess the weight of the big beet

Submit your guesses: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The winner will be announced at 12:30 p.m. and will get to take the big beet home!

 

Apple Variety & Roasted Squash Variety Tastings

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. while supplies last

UBC Farm Members taste for free!

Get a taste of what we are growing in our fields and orchards! This is your chance to taste our squash varieties, including ones you may not have heard of before like tetsukabuto and red kuri, and apples from our Heritage Apple Orchard. Tasting is by cash donation (donate what you can). UBC Farm Members taste for free – just show your digital membership card! All proceeds go to support the UBC Farm.

Our apples and squash are available at the UBC Farm Market stand for purchase, but are subject to availability and may sell out.

 

Pet Costume Contest

Starts at 12 p.m.

Bring your best dressed pet (on leash) to the busker stage at 12 p.m. (located near the Farm entrance and food trucks). Market guests will vote for their favourite costume and the winner will receive a $25 market gift certificate.

 

Spooky Farm & Forest Tour

By Donation. 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Shiver me timbers! Spooky surprises await as your tour guides take you on a tour of the haunted sites of the UBC Farm. Just watch out for the…
